Music




I really enjoy listening music. I am always willing to give different genres of music a try. I think by being open to music you find out about different people, cultures, and also learn a little bit more about yourself.


Gipsy Kings--The Gispy Kings are one of my favorite groups. Their music is a mixture of Flamenco and rumba. All their songs are in either Spanish, or the Gypsy dialect of Gitane. Interestingly, the Gipsy Kings hail from the south of France from the gypsy communities in Arles and Montpelier. I did get to see the Gipsy Kings in concert. It was one of the most awesome experiences. With the music all around you, and everyone dancing and singing along, it is like you became one with the music. At one point I was actually dancing flamenco to the music, the thing is that I can't dance flamenco, it was the whole atmosphere of the event. Does that make sense?


Bob Marley-- What can I say...It's Bob Marley! His music has an ageless quality about it...as if twenty years down the line I will still be listening to it. This music is very calming with lyrics that seem so simple, yet are so complex.


Sublime-- What first attracted me to this band was the crazy sense of humor that could be seen in the song "Date Rape." All the songs on their Sublime LP had their own distinct sound, with Bradely Nowell singing in spanish on two of the tracks.

I also enjoy listening to Classic Rock, like Jimi Hendrix, The Allman Brothers Band, and the Beatles. My siblings absolutely HATE Jimi Hendrix which is something I don't understand...and being the perverse person I am I therefore have to play it as often as possible in their presence. :-)

I am pretty open to all types of Music...But I like listening to Alternative and Dnacing to Hip-hop and Salsa...Stuff that is upbeat...
